Monster Hunter Frontier

Posted by: rikkuni on: May 1, 2009

Boy, has it been a long time! I’m sorry for the lack of updates (although no one cares), but my PC is basically very poor right now, so I can’t play Mabinogi for a while (up until july, methinks). However unlikely, I started playing Monster Hunter Frontier — and it has surprisingly low requirements. In fact, you can play it on a laptop. I’m a big fan of the Monster Hunter series, although I haven’t had the chance to play all of the games, and this one… well, after the (rather tiring) quest to register at Hangame, and some e-drama, I started playing. First, I made Hunter, my real imaginative character.

The name is because I use a general term for him on RPGs, so there. Then to the noob quest!

Very beautiful scenery, even if they use cheap techniques such as picture placement. Anyway, I had to carve two dino thingies for meat. I did it, then for the second one (which I didn’t finish).

I didn’t do much — I still have to learn how to play, since Freedom 2 was my first. But I hope it ends up okay, despite all the drama!

Meeting new friends as the new…

Posted by: rikkuni on: January 3, 2009

…Somaliendiel!

So, as she had promised, Ange bought me a Premium Rebirth Card, despite running into one or two problems along the way , which I felt a little bad for. I found out, however, that I wouldn’t be able to use it until Friday, and realized that the next day would be the age-up day. Now, now, it’d suck if I made a character and he went eleven just on the next day! I then decided to wait, despite being very impatient. We didn’t do much meanwhile, though… a part of it, at the least, I want to forget.

Photobucket

In New Year, after we finished training Lunch for the day, Herro took me to Phillia with his eagle, Dragonwinds, all the while we had a thunderstorm at Erinn! I like thunderstorms in Mabi, they are very well made and you can’t see anything without the thunder. Oh, you don’t believe me? Watch!

Photobucket

See the world down there? No? Hehehe, I know. But it is down there, that I can assure you! Herro went AFK shortly afterwards, though, and I did some Exploration in Connus Desert to pass the time. Just as I had found an elf, however, we had a blackout… at exactly midnight! I got really pissed, but nothing could be done. Sigh, it was a 1500 elf too! In the next day, I decided to get to level 31, and since I was alone, I did the elven dungeon next to Phillia to get some extra experience. Nothing worth mentioning here, except that I killed the Ruin Guardian about four times before deciding to go finish the training in the desert. Lunch helped, too!

Photobucket

He is stupid, though. Later on — the day before yesterday, me thinks — we did some more Shadow World quests. The doppelganger one, to be more especific. Herro also brought a korean friend of his, Rozalis! I wanted to see a korean archer for some time now, since I’m aware that I have a speed delay due to, like, being in Brazil, very far from Korea. True to my thoughts, she was amazingly fast and powerful, both as an archer and as an alchemist. I got very, very, very pissed at the quest, though, since I lagged heavily and plus she was a heavyweight that instagibbed everything. I did like her, though, but lag plus that made me feel really useless, which is never good. Oh, well.

Photobucket

There she is, Rozalis. 로잘리스! Did I mention I’m learning korean? Even though, it is not half as hard as you probably think it is — well, at least writing and reading what is called the Hangul. Useful to check NPC names and know how to read the names of korean friends you might make…! More on that later. Now, to the Rebirth! As soon as I got the age-up, I went to do it. But I took some last shots of old Soma… I grew attached to him, actually, and he is not hideous at all.

Goodbye, old Soma.

Goodbye, old Soma.

Nao appears!

Nao appears!

He looks quite scared... dont worry, you wont die.

He looks quite scared... don't worry, you won't die.

You won’t be forgotten, either. Goodbye, my empty smile!

Meet the new Soma!

Meet the new Soma!

I loved those clothes. They are premium newbie wear, and do really look like both elven-like and child-like! Plus, it’s in a cool brown tone! Just a while after, there was a guy with a cape exactly like mine…! His boots were true white, though, while mine are pastel. I couldn’t find the pure white one yet… I hope I do soon.

Even white gloves... pure white! Im jealous.

Even white gloves... pure white! I'm jealous.

Then, we went to get me a title, the “10-year-old bear killer” or something like that. We didn’t pick the right bear, however…

Photobucket

Now what?

Photobucket

Oops. Then, a korean passed by and tried talking to us. I, deciding to try and befriend more koreans, since in Mabinogi, the more the merrier, said a cheerful “hi”. And guess what, it worked!

Photobucket

I can’t really read his name, though. Kippulhui? I’ll just call him Kippi! After some weird things, I invited him to do Barri with us, since it was the original plan! Apparently, Ange had gotten a special pass to it. So, we went by foot to the city of Bangor, where Barri is located! Kippi had to go the bathroom (and boy, did he take a long time!), so we got some free time, which I used to get my Throw Stone skill. I had simply to buy a piece of cake to a little boy who looks like he is working hard, Shion!

Photobucket

Aww, isn’t he cute? Maybe I can go and give a full cake to him some time! Aftwards, I had some nostalgia moments, since, when I first played Mabinogi, Ange trained me in the ways of the sword in the very city we were in now. Oh, ye old times…

Photobucket

This was my very first human, Somma. Familiar name, huh? In any case, while waiting, I met yet another korean, who apparently got curious with my English, just like Ange said they do.

Photobucket

Just pretend you can read his name! He was nice, but didn’t know much English. T’least I added him, so later on I’ll edit it here with his name, hehe. I coudn’t read it at the time. His clothes were also very nice, I’ll have to ask Ange to take me to the NPC that sells them so I can check.

Well, that is all for today, folks! From this day on you’ll hear the adventures of the new (which is actually the old) Somaliendiel!

And one last thing… thank you very much, Ange. I mean it.

The bishie in grandma clothes!

Posted by: rikkuni on: January 1, 2009

Here I am, back to you with one more post! So, the day before yesterday I got one more storyline quest, in which I had to clean a dungeon as no one but Andras, the bishie guard! In the starting cutscene, first, the big and shocking surprise: he is an elf!

The shock!

The shock!

But I thought he was the human leader of Taillteann… and he didn’t have pointed ears. What could’ve happened? Oh, well, in this cutscene he is being teased by some kids, and they are throwing stones at him, those meanie kids!

Photobucket

He then proceeds to run inside Alby dungeon, and the player then gains control over him. Well, turns out Andras is a very powerful mage, and could easily have kicked those kids butts right into the moon that never sets! But he was wearing some weird clothes… almost look like, as suggested by Ange, that it was handed down from his grandma! The obvious reason as to why he was being teased…!

Granny.

Granny.

Not really, though. The kids were calling him a monster… Poor boy. Anyway, after a very, very long dungeon (it took me almost three hours, although Ange finished it in less time) that was also hard, since I had never played with a mage before, I reached the boss room.

Photobucket

Oh, no…

Photobucket

Oh, no…!

Photobucket

Go away!

Photobucket

Don’t give up, granny– I mean, Andras!

Photobucket

Photobucket

SAVED! Elatha the Incubus to the rescue… only the other monster was his pet, hehe. They then had a talk about who was the true monster and Andras left the place unharmed (at least unharmed by the big werewolf thing…), and rich since his luck is amazing and I collected 30k in it… pity the items disappear, sheesh. My reward as some experience and a Two-Handed Sword of Taillteann, which I later traded for Herro’s Elven Long Bow of Andras (an amazing weapon, by the way, thanks Herro!).

I wonder what kind of adventures I will have tomorrow…!

Lunch!

Posted by: rikkuni on: January 1, 2009

Hello once again! In this small post I’ll talk about the christmas present Herro gave me… a kangaroo rat!

Lunch!

Lunch!

Well, it was going to be Munch, but it was taken, so… Lunch! It is almost the same, anyway. I got really surprised when Herro asked me to log off and I found his card… man, I love kangaroo rats, even though I call him a hamster, hehe! Thank you, Herro!

Isnt he precious?

Isn't he precious?

Since we’re three days from the age-up day, and he is strong if leveled while a newborn, we decided to start his training right away! And, to my surprise… I can actually play as him! And he is very strong, too.

Hamster... bolt!

Hamster... bolt!

A big thanks to Ange, who helped me train, and to Herro who arrived a little later and helped a lot! He also traded an awesome bow with me!

Photobucket
Welcome to the team, Lunch! Now if only I had a credit card… oh, well. Expect to see a post soon about the long Andras’ memory!

The most wild battle in the history of wild battles… ever!

So, remember that, on the first post, I talked about shadow world quests? Turns out we did one today! First, we did my run of that long dungeon (and it went faster than expected because Herro came and helped us). T’was equal to the first one, though, so I won’t talk much about it. Herro gave me a cool red set of cape and wizard hat, too! Though I won’t use the cape much because the white one is my favorite.

I can almost see myself in Hogwarts.

I can almost see myself in Hogwarts.

Then, we went to Emain Macha (the human camp in the Iria continent) to do a part-time job in order to gain some blessed water, which makes the weapon not break so easily, and then to Taillteann to see the bishie guard and finish my quest. Ange also found a cool black cape that matched with my white one! Lookie, lookie:

The Black Wind howls... one among you shall shortly perish.

The Black Wind howls... one among you shall shortly perish. Or not, who knows.

Afterwards, we went to Tara (the huge, empty and laggy city from the first post) to do the shadow world thing. On this quest, we had to free shadow Tara from a bunch of skeletons. Have some shots:

Photobucket

Photobucket
The boss to this dungeon, though…

Photobucket
Yes, a doppelganger! In the first run, he copied Herro, but I didn’t take many screens of that. Thinking he would also copy my fighting style, I asked to be the party leader so that he would copy me. Even though…

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
…he decided to play dirty! Still, it was a very, very fun battle — even better than my first battle with Barra’s five (or maybe three, I don’t remember exactly) ogres! Then, we did a third run with Ange as our leader. I also noticed that them, both wearing black capes, looked like they were escorting me, which wasn’t very far from the truth.

Its man and woman in black, yo!

It's man and woman in black, yo!

We proceeded, after some monster server lag, to face the boss. Everything was going just as planned…

Photobucket
But then…!

Photobucket

Photobucket
It updated, holy crap! We had a short bow duel, but unfortunately, I was killed (figures…). It then changed into…!

Photobucket
Herro! But it seems it was still mimicking my voice, how dare he!

Photobucket
Not even Ange, a long time player, knew what was going on. Shortly afterwards, the doppelganger made more Herro copies whilst maintaining the Ange ones. Talk abour smart monster! The true Herro was then killed, and the monster began mimicking his voice too!

Photobucket
He even tried to deceive me!

Photobucket
It didn’t work, of course, and soon after Ange dropped some feathers for me to ressurect Herro. The battle was on…!

Photobucket
He wouldn’t die so easily, though, and called for backup, which took us, especially me, since I die in one or two hits, by surprise:

Photobucket
After killing me once again, he called forth even more clones…

Photobucket
Talk about outnumbered, sheesh! Ange and Herro both dueled magnificently, however, and even though I didn’t level, it was the most amazingly fun battle I had in all my (little) time of playing Mabinogi. Even watching it wasa fun! I shall pester them to try again tomorrow.

It’ll help in the long dun.

Posted by: rikkuni on: December 30, 2008

Hello again! So, yesterday I found out that the arrows Castanea gave me were for the elven dungeon just outside Phillia, and today myself and Ange went to do it. I also found my white boots, talk about good luck!

We met! Check out my white boots~!

We met! Check out my white boots~!

Then we went to the dungeon. At one point, I couldn’t talk due to some weird bug, but soon enough it went away. I was also doing pretty good, though not really. I died a lot, but I still felt I helped a lot. It was a very long and very hard dungeon… In some parts, there were lots of enemies, but most of them disappear after a while. In one particular room, though…

Photobucket
Thank God I have one very strong partner! Actually, Ange rocks when it comes to melee combat. I just wish I was as good in ranged combat… Oh, well, the milk is spilled, but the cow isn’t dead yet.

Photobucket
We were prepared to face Death itself, since the dun was very hard…

Photobucket
D’oh!

Photobucket
Just maybe! :3 Who would say it’d work, huh? Well, it did! Then Ange called Ralphie, her wolf, and then Rockie, her pelican, to assist in the fight while I sniped from a safe distance. Ralphie really rocked — but the boss was strong, nevertheless, and he got killed.

Photobucket

Then we got our rewards (although I couldn’t pick the fragment of the tower due to it being her quest, not mine) and proceeded to fix both my bows (one of which I didn’t — c’mon, six thousand to fix one leather long bow?) and finish the quest. ‘cept I asked Ange to stop by Tir Chonaill, the newbie town, on the way to check if the clothes seller had my pure white cape. With no hope, of course.

And he did. Yay!

And he did. Yay!

I also both normal clothes. Then we went to Taillteann to meet the bishie guard. The road was beautiful.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Then we met the bishie royal guard, once again (he gives the RP quests to us). He was magnific as always~~.

Oh! How hard it is to be blond and beautiful like me...!

Oh! How hard it is to be blond and beautiful like me...!

Then Ange went to have dinner, but we are going to play more today. Expect updates later!

Gotta hug ‘em all!

Sooo, I used to like Pokémon games. But the series are too much of a rehash to me nowadays, so the last one I played was Pokémon Emerald. Recently, however, I came upon a series of images depicting the Pokémon as humans, and well-made too! I don’t have a favorite, but, take a look at one or two!

Squirtle

Hothead!

Clean head!

The popular guy.

HO!

So, I found out about Moémon, a hack that transforms all the Pokémon into humans. Mostly girls, though, but still, I started playing it again.

My favorite one in the game is Hitmonlee.

Eh, she was the best out of the three starters.

Eh, I thought it was going to be the other one. No matter!

This little guy is surprisingly useful!

Ill have to train the Lotad, though.

I'll have to train the Lotad, though.

So far, I’ve been having fun. Mabinogi is great, but if I play it all the time, I may get bored, so…! Next will be Metroid Zero Mission.

See ya!

So! Since I once again started playing Mabinogi alongside my good friend, Angevon, I decided I should start this blog as to tell my adventures to the world! Although, being realistic, I know that only people who play with me and perhaps some other friends will read this. Oh, well, life is life!

As she said in her blog, I used to play with her in the KR test server, but the fact that it is a test server, and as such, resets every once in a while, got me a little tired of that, especially because I liked using one white set of clothes that was somewhat hard to find (since the colors are random in shops). This got me into a dilemma, though… I loved playing alongside Ange, it was very, very fun, and I didn’t really want to stop it. However, the KR main server was, at the time, service-only (you had a two hour per day limit to play if you didn’t pay), and plus, I wouldn’t have the premium selection that I had for my cute elf in the test server. In fact, the basic options are hideous! And the NA server IP blocks my country (and all other countries that are not in NA, for that matter), so I can’t play there either.

Well, it doesn’t even have elves!

Here is, to your viewing pleasure, Somaliendiel, formerly Somma, in all his premium glory with my clothes of choice:

Isnt he cute?

Isn't he cute?

However again, recently the KR main server turned free, only with a cash shop, and the time limit was removed. Thus, after a failed attempt to play iRO Valkyrie, Ange invited me to play Mabinogi once again. I still had my doubts, however, since, however egoistic it may seem, I still would not be able to have the Soma I liked. The thing I care about the most in a game is how the character looks — so much I didn’t even play games like FFX and FFXII because of the protagonists. C’mon, Vaan had his chest exposed! And he had high definition muscles! And still looked like a bishie!

Truly disturbing.

Truly disturbing.

Ange surprised me, though. She offered to buy me a premium card! I can’t translate how I felt into words, really — apart from being a true demonstration of trust and friendship, she showed that she really wanted to play with me. After a small argument (I felt kinda bad for letting she pay for me…), I accepted and downloaded the client. First, I made a human, since it was the only card available on the account. Radian, a character of mine, was taken, so I went with Radianl. I kinda forgot to screenshot him, though, since just after doing the newbie dungeon we went to the Elven town, Phillia, to ally myself with the elves and gain a free elf card. I then made my (hideous, compared to the former Soma) elf:

All the basic elf faces look either sad or depressing, sheesh!

All the basic elf faces look either sad or depressing, sheesh!

I tried to make him cute, though. The hair is the same as Radianl. Regardless, I had lots of fun playing with Ange (as always)! I needed to get some levels and master some skills before getting the rebirth (since it would be a waste of money if I didn’t do so). We first finished my tutorial quests, an’ then she took me to do a storyline quest, also known as RP (roleplay) quest. We can play as someone else *gasp*! First I played as some Royal Guard guy, but, unfortunately, Fraps wasn’t open, and I couldn’t take any screenshots. Then, after a shadow world quest (of which I’ll talk in another post), we did the second one. Lookie, I was playing as the handsome bishie, Reimoa:

I died a little afterwards, though, haha...

I died a little afterwards, though, haha...

What? I didn’t know you had to charge those alchemist spells! Despite I crashing once while the cutscene was loading, we were able to do the quest just fine. In the next one, I played as myself, and after we finished protecting the city…

FFFFFFFFFFU- HE IS LOOKING AT ME!

FFFFFFFFFFU- HE IS LOOKING AT ME! D:

But then…

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERES JOHNNY!

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE'S JOHNNY!

Using some mines, he disposed of the monster. What was his name again…? Glas Glaven! Or something like that. Nevermind! The next ones were a little more go-talk-to-that-NPC-driven.

Ill just use Japan rule and say hes a boy...

I'll just use Japan rule and say he's a boy...

Then I found a player character that looked like the old Soma, and he had cool clothes, too…! Lookie, lookie:

I spent entire five minutes looking at im, seriously.

I spent entire five minutes looking at 'im, seriously.

At one point, Ange went to sleep, so I closed the game. Some minutes later, though, I found a map that shows the locations of all the lost elves in the Connus Desert, something which I was looking for ever since starting to play again. I logged in and proceeded to do a little exploration! I found out I had a quest, too, so I went to do it. Unfortunately, I died, and, in a streak of bad luck, lost both my clothes, cape and shoes. I didn’t feel like buying them from the Lost and Found NPC, so…

Hey, give him a break, he is just eleven!

Hey, give him a break, he is only eleven!

Later on, after getting new clothes, I found a grayish white cape, and bought it while I don’t find the pure white one. Then, Ange helped me in a massacre of little white (but very strong against a puny elf like me) birds, then in a massacre of desert ghosts, and then we continued the RP quest. We went to a gigantic city that came in G10, and it was very beautiful, but very empty and… very laggy. I need to buy myself a new PC. Have some shots:

Beautiful and detailed. Sad there is no one there.

Beautiful and detailed. Sadly there is no one there.

After the frustration of finding out that the dungeon required in the quest, Runda, was a solo one (and I can’t do dungeons alone, plus Ange herself was unsure she’d be able to), we decided to do another of the RP quests, and elf-exclusive one. On the way to Taillteann, we passed over a waterfall. Man, talk about beauty!

Itd be more beautiful if I was using water reflection, though. Bad PC!

It'd be more beautiful if I was using water reflection, though. Bad PC!

I then got DC’d and Ange went to have dinner. Afterwards, we continued the quest, but the server decided to close in 20 minutes! Gah! We had a comfy moment waiting for the Continent Move to become available again, though:

Aww, isnt that sweet? I love things like that, especially in Mabi!

Aww, isn't that sweet? I love things like that, especially in Mabi!

Then we went to Phillia. However, we don’t know what to do next. Apparently, the elf chief, Castanea, has requested something, but neither me nor Ange know what that is. Oh, well!

We can continue later.

And that’s all for today, folks! I’ll have many other things to put here later on, though. Owari!
